Don, Rich and I enjoyed the first day of no daylight savings by sleeping in and paddling around Alameda Island. It was a beautiful fall day with little tide action and just a light NW breeze. We launched from Grant Street Landing on Alameda Island across from two Coast Guard 376 ships on the dock. We paddled counter clockwise, there was no activity at the commerical harbor just a few sail boats and one ferry heading out with us. We landed at the old air station and enjoyed a quick lunch. I remember passing through the Naval Airstation with Art Jepsky enroute to Honolulu one Christmas break, it's much different now.
After lunch, Don and Rich tried out their sails. Not really enough wind to give them an advantage over go old muscle power as I easily beat them down to the opening in the break water.
Great day!
